About Bush & Gilles Furniture
The Gilles family story started when Gene Gilles married Linda Johnson and they had two sons, Brian and Kevin. After a few years, Gene began to manage a shoe store in Rice Lake for Charlie Bush. They later went into partnership and decided to open a furniture store two doors down from the shoe store. Over the next thirty years, Bush and Gilles Furniture expanded their retail stores to three communities throughout Wisconsin to Cameron, Spooner and Ladysmith. The Cameron Bush and Gilles was managed by their son Brian. The Spooner location has been run by their son Kevin since 1988, and in 2018, Kevin's son Cole joined him in running the store. Daughters-in-law Kathi and Wendy ran the Budget Barn Furniture and Sticks-N-Stones Furniture in Cameron.
In 2000, another Bush and Gilles store and Stick-N-Stones was opened in Ladysmith and is run by family friend Brian Rohlik. In 2018, the reconstruction of Main Street in Cameron forced the three stores to move into the old J.C.Penny space at the Cedar Mall in Rice Lake. The businesses rented out that space until purchasing the old Office Max building in 2021.
Once the stores were moved to the new building, Brian, Kathi, and Jacob Gilles took over running the Rice Lake location. The family recently purchased the old Sears store in Spooner and opened a second Sticks-N-Stones Rustic Furniture, which is run by Wendy Gilles. Brian and Kathi Gilles, and Kevin and Wendy Gilles now co-own the furniture retail operation and feel very thankful to all of their customers that have supported their family business.
